It has been 200 years since the first Catholic pioneers settled and conquered the "Dark and Bloody Land" known as Kentucky. For the first-time, their story can be shown to the world with modern technology. In 2025, we are ready to bring you a documentary that tells this irreplaceable puzzle piece in American Catholic History and one of the greatest adventures in the history of the entire Church.
Greetings, I'm Michael Snellen, the director of Kentucky Holy Land. This is a story I feel destined to tell.
Being born underneath the shadow of St. Joseph's steeple (where the Flaget Hospital used to be), I discovered the immense jewels in my own backyard after my conversion to the faith. I worked alongside Trappist monks at the oldest monastery in the United States, visited over 50 churches, graveyards, and other historical sites over the last year, and daily contemplate the Kentucky knobs and admire the light of God that brought a Cathedral to this wilderness.
Thank you for all of your support in making this project possible.
